Recognizing the critical need for specialized guidance, the leadership of the American Head and Neck Society has approved the development of clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) for oral cavity cancer. As you know, there are currently no CPGs focused exclusively on the management of oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma. A dedicated, high-quality CPG that addresses optimal diagnostic work-up, surgical quality, treatment protocols, multidisciplinary collaboration, functional outcomes, follow-up and survivorship care, and supportive care in oral cancer is urgently needed.
We invite members of the Mucosal Section and experts in oral malignancy to apply. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with methodologists and guideline experts and gain valuable experience developing CPGs.
Candidates Requirements:
- have experience in conducting systematic reviews
- have at least one first-author peer-reviewed publication in the last 10 years
- be able to commit time for in-depth literature analysis, virtual and in-person meetings, and collaborative discussions.
- submit an application by August 22nd
While selection for the committee signifies recognition of expertise, it does not necessarily imply or guarantee co-authorship on the resulting guidelines. We encourage applications from head and neck surgeons, as well as radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, and dentists, and welcome applications from both junior and mid to senior-level members.
If interested, please submit a current CV and an essay of up to 250 words detailing your reasons for applying, and the specific skills, expertise, or perspectives you will bring to the committee, by August 22nd.
Please email questions to Christina Kassendorf (Christina@ahns.info).
