I derive great personal satisfaction and fulfillment from caring for patients with cancer. As the Chief of Otolaryngology at Yale and Director of the Head and Neck Disease Center in the Smilow Cancer Hospital, I am active in many aspects of Head & Neck Oncology including surgical therapy of tumors of the mouth, throat, voicebox, paranasal sinuses, salivary glands, thyroid gland, and neck soft tissue. We have active research to explore and discover new therapies based on individual differences in tumors with emphasis on HPV-associated and tobacco-associated head and neck squamous cell carcinoma and salivary tumors
Our goal is to provide team based comprehensive care that may involve surgery, radiation, and/or drug therapy centered on the latest findings from Yale and other institutions. During and after treatment, we have the team for support and recovery of functions such as voice, swallowing, mobility and strength.
Ultimately, we strive to improve cure rates while minimizing side effects as we implement personalized therapy and help our patients to be
‘Closer to Free’.
