Los Angeles, CA – December 8, 2025 – The American Head & Neck Society (AHNS) has earned Accreditation with Commendation from the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). The Accreditation with Commendation award is the highest honor a CME provider can receive from the ACCME and is valid for six years, the longest term the ACCME offers.
“AHNS has been reviewed by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME®) and awarded Accreditation with Commendation for six years as a provider of continuing medical education (CME) for physicians. Accreditation in the ACCME System seeks to assure the medical community and the public that AHNS delivers education that is relevant to clinicians’ needs, evidence-based, evaluated for its effectiveness, and independent of commercial influence,” a statement from ACCME reads. “The ACCME System employs a rigorous process for evaluating institutions’ CME programs according to standards that reflect the values of the educator community and aim to accelerate learning, inspire change, and champion improvement in healthcare. Through participation in accredited CME, clinicians and teams drive improvement in their practice and optimize the care, health, and wellness of their patients.”
“For decades, AHNS has been unwavering in its commitment to delivering the highest standards of accredited education for clinicians who care for patients with head and neck disease. The Commendation decision from the ACCME affirms the strength of our educational mission and reflects how AHNS continues to lead within our specialty. Our dedication to excellence runs deep, and our members and staff consistently demonstrate the expertise and professionalism needed to provide truly impactful, practice-advancing education for our community of lifelong learners,” said Bevan Yueh, MD, MPH, President of AHNS.
“It is an honor to have the ACCME recognize and reward AHNS for our achievements over the past six years in advancing best practices in education design, learner engagement, outcomes assessment, and continuous improvement,” said Erin Schwarz, AHNS Education Manager. “This commendation underscores our commitment to developing high-quality learning experiences that empower clinicians and ultimately support better care for the patients they serve.”
