American College of Surgeons (ACS)/Commission on Cancer (CoC) – Approved Quality Metric for HNC

Dear AHNS Members,

We are extremely excited to announce that the American College of Surgeons (ACS)/Commission on Cancer (CoC) recently approved the first quality metric for head and neck oncology: time to initiation of postoperative radiation therapy (PORT) < 6 weeks for patients with surgically managed head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC).

In light of this momentous first, the American Head and Neck Society Value and Quality of Care Service, in collaboration with the American Society for Radiation Oncology, is launching a national quality improvement initiative to decrease delays starting adjuvant radiation therapy for patients with HNSCC. If you are interested in finding out more about how to participate in this initiative, please email Vasu Divi at [email protected] or Evan Graboyes at [email protected] by June 1.

2022 AHNS Annual Meeting at COSM – Meeting Evaluation and CME Instructions

Dear AHNS Annual Meeting Attendee,

Thank you for attending the 2022 AHNS Annual Meeting at COSM.

To complete your meeting evaluation and claim your CME credits, please go to https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/92QJNTR by Friday, May 27, 2022.

All attendees who need CME MUST fill out the evaluation first. Once the evaluation is completed, attendees will be directed to an online form to request their CME certificate or certificate of attendance.

This year, we will also offer a majority of the meeting as an enduring material for CME credit. The recorded meeting content will be made available as a separate activity and released as soon as COSM makes it available.

The 2022 AHNS Annual Meeting at COSM has been designated for continuing medical education credits. Nurses may submit their certificate of attendance to their state nursing board and get it qualified for credit. AMA PRA Category 1 Credits(tm) translate to 1 credit = 1 hour. Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn their required annual part II self-assessment credit in the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery’s Continuing Certification program (formerly known as MOC).

Please contact [email protected] for any questions.
