AHNS Virtual Education Series
Professional Obligations & Burnout in the COVID Era

Presented by the AHNS Ethics and Professionalism Service

Date: Wednesday, March 23, 2022

Time: 4:00pm PT/5:00pm MT/6:00pm CT/7:00pm ET
This session is an hour long.

This session is complimentary to all attendees.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Learning Objectives:
This session will introduce professional burnout as moral injury – the accumulation of smaller and larger betrayals of purpose leading to a dysphoric and cynical relationship with one’s work. COVID put moral injury into sharp focus for physicians who suddenly found themselves having to triage or ration care in ways we were never prepared or expected to do.

At the conclusion of the activity, participants will be able to:
Distinguish professional burnout as a form of moral injury, and apply this context to how coping skills and mitigation strategies can promote wellness and resilience among H&N surgeons.

Moderator:
Andrew Shuman, MD

Panelists:
Andrew Rosko, MD
Erin Buczek, MD
Alessa Coliainni, MD
