Wojtek Mydlarz, M.D., is the director of Johns Hopkins Head and Neck Surgery for the National Capitol Region, as well as an assistant professor in the Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery for Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Mydlarz is board certified in Otolaryngology and specializes in the treatment of benign and malignant tumors of the head and neck, including the upper aerodigestive tract, salivary glands, thyroid, skin and soft tissue. He is a head and neck surgical oncologists, and has specific interests in head and neck mucosal malignancies, skin cancer/melanoma, head and neck endocrine surgery as well as skull base surgery.

 

Dr. Mydlarz received his medical degree from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital. During his residency he received specialized head and neck cancer research training fellowship sponsored by the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Mydlarz was awarded the Helen Taussig Professionalism and Career Development Award and was also inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

 

He completed a Science of Clinical Investigation Training Program with the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, as well as specialized fellowship training in head and neck surgical oncology at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston prior to joining the Head and Neck Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

 

Professionally he is an active member of the American Head and Neck Society, where he is part of several section and serves on various committees. He is also a fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, as well as the American College of Surgeons.

 

Dr. Mydlarz is also a medical officer, as well as a clinical and research collaborator in the Head and Neck Surgery Branch of the National Institutes of Health. His research interests include evaluating both surgical and non-surgical treatment outcomes in head and neck cancer patients. He is also interested in the complex molecular biology of head and neck cancer, and potential clinical applications of novel targeted cancer therapies. Dr. Mydlarz has contributed to numerous publications, articles, book chapters and lectures. He serves on the editorial board for Oral Oncology and is a journal reviewer for Oral Oncology, Head and Neck, The Laryngoscope and JAMA-Otolaryngology.
