Charles Meyer, MD is a Commander in the United States Navy, Medical Corps and is currently stationed at Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth Virginia. He is a board-certified Otolaryngologist and fellowship trained in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology and Microvascular Reconstruction.
He attended the United States Naval Academy and then served as a Surface-Nuclear Engineering Officer aboard the USS JAMES E WILLIAMS (DDG 95) and USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN 71). After transferring to the US Navy Medical Corps, he attended the Uniformed Services University and completed Internship and Residency in Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. He also served at the Senior Medical Officer aboard the USS SAN ANTONIO (LPD 17).
He provides care covering the breadth of head and neck oncologic and reconstructive surgery including, advanced malignancies of the upper aerodigestive tract, salivary gland diseases, thyroid and parathyroid disease, skull base surgery (open and endoscopic), transoral robotic surgery, microvascular reconstruction, and general head and neck reconstruction. He also provides Comprehensive Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Trauma care across the life span from neonatal to geriatric patients.
His specific research interests include microvascular reconstructive techniques of head and neck defects, robotic surgery, and minimally invasive approaches to head and neck problems.
