Tamer Ghanem M.D. Ph.D. is an experienced ear, nose throat doctor with special training in head and neck cancer and facial cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, with double board certification in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery and Facial Plastic Reconstructive Surgery. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry with a Minor in Mathematics from the University of Utah in 1993. He went on to graduate school in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Utah. After 5 years of graduate school, he enrolled at the University of Utah School of Medicine. Completing both his Ph.D. degree and his M.D. degree in 2002.
He finished his General Surgery Internship in 2003 and his Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery Residency at the University of Virginia in 2007. He completed an American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery fellowship at Oregon Health and Sciences University, completed in 2008. He started at the Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery Department at Henry Ford Medical Group in 2008. While there he founded the Head and Neck Cancer Division in 2009. He started Head and Neck Surgery Fellowship endorsed by the American Head and Neck Society in 2018. He held multiple leadership roles within the department. He also was honored by Julie and Peter Cummings with the inaugural Julie and Peter Cummings Endowed Chair for Head and Neck Cancer Surgery. He has lectured and performed medical mission work in Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Kiev, and Egypt.
In September of 2023, he started a solo private practice, Premier Head and Neck Surgery PC, in Flint, MIchigan. His practice sees head and neck cancer patients, general ear, nose throat patients as well as facial reconstructive surgery as well as facial cosmetic procedures. In January 2025, he founded Ghanem Aesthetics in Dearborn as well as his Flint location.
