Biography/Statement

Dr. Patrick F. Morgan joined Eastern Virginia Medical School’s Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery as an Assistant Professor in October of 2022. Dr. Morgan earned his undergraduate degree at Clemson University and his medical degree from the Eastern Virginia Medical School. He completed his residency training at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston, South Carolina. After residency, Dr. Morgan went on to complete his fellowship training in Head and Neck Oncologic and Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Miami / Jackson Health System in Miami, Florida and prior to returning to Norfolk and joining EVMS Otolaryngology, he held an academic appointment at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University where he specialized in head and neck ablative, endocrine and reconstructive surgery. In addition, he served as the Chief of ENT at the Charlie Norwood VAMC while in Augusta, GA. Dr. Morgan is active at a local, regional and national level, and currently serves as a member of the Ethics and Professionalism Service, Website & Social Media Service, and Young Members Service.

Biography/Statement

David Goldenberg, MD, FACS is a Head and Neck Surgical Oncologist. He was educated at the #BenGurion University in Israel. He completed a residency in #Otolaryngology -Head and Neck Surgery at #Rambam Medical Center in Haifa, Israel and then went on to do a three year fellowship in Head and Neck Surgery and Oncology at the #JohnsHopkins Hospital in Baltimore. Currently Professor and Chair of the department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the Penn State Health, Penn State College of Medicine. David combines a busy surgical practice with teaching and research. His clinical practice includes head and neck cancers, thyroid cancers and parathyroid disease, and radiofrequency ablation of thyroid nodules. His clinical research focus is on outcomes and etiology of the rise in incidence of thyroid cancer and his basic research lab and basic research focuses on thyroid cancer genomics in familial non medullary thyroid cancer as well as radiation induced thyroid cancer. Dr Goldenberg is an accomplished and prolific author of over 230 journal articles, 35 book chapters and 7 books in the field of head and neck and thyroid oncology and surgery. His latest book “Head & Neck Endocrine Surgery- A Comprehensive Textbook, Surgical, and Video Atlas (Thieme 2021) is the most comprehensive textbook to date on the subject of Thyroid and parathyroid surgery.

Dr. Mohebati received his medical degree and residency training from the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He has fellowship training in head and neck surgical oncology from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Dr. Mohebati is a board certified surgeon, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Head and Neck Society and a member of American Thyroid Association. He is fluent in Farsi. His practice focus is on the management of thyroid cancer and parathyroid disease, melanoma and head and neck cancer.

Biography/Statement

Dr. Hararah is currently a clinical fellow at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Head & Neck Oncologic Surgery and Reconstructive Microsurgery.  He trained at the University of Colorado, Denver in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery. 

Originally from San Francisco, CA, he attended UC Berkeley and obtained his BA in Molecular & Cell Biology and Arabic Literature. He worked extensively in clinical research and traveled to the east coast where he earned an MPH from the prestigious Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. He then moved to the midwest where he earned his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He now currently resides in New York City for fellowship with his family (wife and 2 children).

Biography/Statement

Ameya Asarkar, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Otorhinolarnygology at LSU Health Shreveport. His clinical focus is on the treatment of patients with head and neck cancer, diseases of the salivary glands, and thyroid/parathyroid disease, with a particular interest in transoral robotic surgery. Dr. Asarkar received his medical degree at Shri Bhausaheb Hire Government Medical College, Dhule, India in 2007. In 2012, he completed a residency in Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery at Sanjeevan Medical Foundation ENT Post Graduate Institute, Miraj, India. In 2016, he completed a fellowship in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology at the Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, India. He also complete a fellowship in Head and Neck surgical oncology at LSU Health Shreveport in 2018. Currently, Dr. Asarkar’s research interests include clinical outcomes in head and neck cancer patients, and thyroid diseases focusing on cost effectiveness of treatment strategies. His previous research work on a range of topics has been published in many peer-reviewed journals, and has been presented nationally and internationally. He serves as a reviewer on multiple national peer-reviewed journals. He is a member of numerous professional societies, including the American Head and Neck Society, the American College of Surgeons, the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Federation of Head and Neck Oncology and Asia Pacific Society of Thyroid surgeons. He serves as the committee member of the salivary gland section and history service committees of the American Head and Neck Society.
