Areas of surgical specialization in Head and Neck Surgery

Head and Neck Research, Head and Neck Surgeon, Reconstructive Head & Neck Surgery

Biography/Statement

Dr. Luginbuhl is at the cutting edge of research bridging the gap of new immunotheraputic options, radioactive isotopes and surgery to offer a broad array of clinical trials and treatment options for head and neck cancer.  His recent work with CDDO compounds in the laboratory have resulted in preventing some of the profound side effects experienced in radiation therapy.

Additionally he is deeply involved in Haitian mission work, taking 3-4 trips/year.  He and his partners have performed the first free tissue transfer and continue to operate regularly in 2 different hospitals.  He is leading a coalition to bring oncologic care to Haiti through radiation and chemotherapy.  https://giving.jefferson.edu/giving/what-to-support/opportunities/complex-head-neck-care-education.html

Clinical Trials

Dr. Luginbuhl is the principle investigator on multiple trials including:

  1. Nivolumab +/- Tadalafil Window of Opportunity Trial in Head and neck cancer.  2) Cesium-131 Brachytherapy.

Additional trials involving targeted agents, immunotherapy, radioactive isotopes and metabolic inhibitors.
