Biography/Statement

Raised in Oklahoma City, I completed medical school at the University of Oklahoma followed by a residency in otolaryngology at Mayo Clinic Arizona. Following graduation from residency, I completed a head and neck surgical oncology fellowship at the University of Oklahoma. Currently, I practice head and neck surgical oncology and reconstructive surgery at Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston, WV.

Biography/Statement

Dr. K. Chowdhury MD, MBA, FACS, is board certified in both Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery and Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. He has additional Fellowship training in Craniofacial & Skull Base Surgery.

His clinical practice interests include patients with salivary gland tumors, oral tumors, and maxillofacial oncology or jaw tumors, both benign and malignant. He has expertise in tumors of the skull base situated in difficult locations using both endoscopic minimally invasive and open approaches. He has a special interest in facial reconstructive surgery for maxillofacial fractures, and post cancer reconstruction. He is also very involved with Pediatric Head & Neck Surgery for tumors, and reconstruction for cleft lip & palate and congenital craniofacial anomalies (craniosynostoses). He seeks to understand and provide compassionate state of the art care for patients with complex and sometimes scary disorders of the head & neck and maxillofacial area.

Biography/Statement

Samip Patel, M.D., FACS is a board-certified Otolaryngologist-Head & Neck Surgery with expertise in Head & Neck Surgical Oncology and Microvascular Reconstruction. He is also an Associate Professor of Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery. He completed his fellowship in Head & Neck Oncology and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Toronto following the completion of an Otolaryngology residency at the University of South Florida. He completed medical school at Northeast Ohio Medical University in Rootstown, Ohio.

Dr. Patel was previously the Chief for the Division of Head & Neck Surgical Oncology at the University of North Carolina Department of Otolaryngology. He was the medical director of the Head & Neck Surgical Oncology Clinic at the North Carolina Cancer Center at UNC as well. He has over 3 dozen publications since graduating fellowship in 2013 and is a renowned educator among academic otolaryngologists both in and out of the Mayo Enterprise.

Biography/Statement

Dr. Joseph Lopez earned his undergraduate degree from Stanford University and medical degree from Harvard Medical School. Dr. Lopez received his plastic surgery training at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and pursued specialty training in Pediatric Craniomaxillofacial Surgery as a Fellow at the Yale Craniofacial, Oral, and Dental Center at the Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital.  He then completed a second fellowship in Head & Neck Surgical Oncology at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City.

Dr. Lopez is a pediatric plastic surgeon who specializes in treating patients with conditions such as cleft lip and palate, jaw deformities (orthognathic surgery), temporomandibular joint disorders, craniosynostosis (premature closure of skull sutures resulting in abnormal skull and facial shape), obstructive sleep apnea, or syndromic anomalies like Crouzon, Apert, Pfeiffer, Treacher-Collins and Beckwith-Wiedemann, to name a few.

Dr. Lopez is also a pediatric head and neck cancer surgeon. He treats patients with benign tumors such as maxillofacial or dental cysts, vascular anomalies, and facial/neck congenital lesions as well as malignant tumors such as sarcomas. Dr. Lopez also specializes in pediatric thyroid surgery including in young children with predisposition to thyroid cancer like Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Type 2, Familial Adematous Polyposis, or PTEN Hamartoma Tumor syndrome.
