Dr. Byung Joo Lee obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery from University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry in 2012.  He completed Surgical Prosthodontics residency at University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in 2015.  Subsequently, Dr. Lee furthered his training by completing fellowships in Oral Oncology and Maxillofacial Prosthodontics at MD Anderson Cancer Center in 2016.  Immediately following fellowship, Dr. Lee joined Baylor Scott & White Health and built the only Maxillofacial Prosthodontics Clinic supporting the Central Texas.  In 2022, Dr. Lee joined MUSC Head & Neck Surgery Team as the Medical Director of Maxillofacial Prosthodontics and Oral Oncology.

Dr. Lee specializes in the care of patients who require reconstruction of acquired and congenital oral and maxillofacial deformities, restoring normal appearance, function and facial contour to patients who have lost ears, noses, eyes, etc., as a result of injury, cancer treatment, or birth defects. Dr. Lee is a Fellow of the American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics and specializes in designing and surgically placing dental implants used in the rehabilitation of complicated intraoral and facial defects. Treatments utilize most up-to-date diagnostic and treatment options that include a multidisciplinary approach to complex oral and maxillofacial problems.
