Dr. Jonathan Waxman, MD, PhD completed his MD and PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois in Chicago where he studied sleep disordered breathing and the effect of disrupted sleep on daytime performance. As a sleep scientist, he published multiple papers in the medical literature as well as several book chapters. His research in sleep science led to an interest in otolaryngology and sleep surgery, and consequently, he completed a residency in Otolaryngology at Wayne State University. During residency, he developed a passion for complex head and neck cancer and reconstructive surgery. Following residency he completed a fellowship in head and neck surgical oncology and microvascular reconstruction at Wayne State University. Dr. Waxman now practices all aspects of adult and pediatric otolaryngology including ear and hearing disorders, nose and sinus disorders, and vocal cord, swallowing, and speech disorders. Of special interest to Dr. Waxman are sleep surgery and all aspects of head and neck cancer surgery and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Waxman is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, the American Head and Neck Society, and the Michigan Otolaryngological Society. He is a clinical faculty member in the Department of Otolaryngology at Wayne State University and at the Michigan State University College of Medicine.
