Dr. Orestes attended the Uniformed Services University (USU) in Bethesda, MD after graduating from Cornell University.  After graduation Dr. Orestes continued his training in the Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery residency program at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and the National Capital Consortium military training programs.

Dr. Orestes received fellowship training at UCLA in laryngology, complex airway and swallowing disorders and treatment of complex head neck endocrine and laryngeal cancers with a focus on nerve dissection techniques.  He also received advanced training in Trans-Oral Laser Surgery (TLM) and Trans-Oral Robotic Surgery (TORS) at UCLA.

Currently, as Associate Professor of Surgery, Dr. Orestes has several grants on for the study of novel treatments of obstructive sleep apnea. Dr. Orestes has also written about a new method of selective reinnervation of the larynx for bilateral vocal fold paralysis.  Dr. Orestes is passionate about resident education and serves as a faculty development instructor for the Department of Defense.  He is a also one of the designers and first site director for the military course on head and neck trauma (Combat Craniofacial Trauma Surgery).

Dr. Orestes’s surgical practice concentrates in endocrine surgery (thyroid and parathyroid), laryngeal carcinoma and minimally invasive approaches to the neck and larynx.
