Dr. Burton was raised in Columbine, Colorado, a suburb of Denver. She is the first physician in her family, and has always had an interest in head and neck cancer. She attended Brigham Young University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science of Physiology and Developmental Biology. She attended the University of Colorado School of Medicine, and graduated with honors in surgery. She completed five years of residency training in general surgery at St. Joseph's Hospital in Denver Colorado. She is now a pursuing research and clinical fellowship in head and neck surgical oncology and microvascular reconstruction at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, New York.
