Dr. Karthik N. Rao is a leading Head and Neck and Skull-Base Surgical Oncologist based in Bangalore, India.
He currently serves as Consultant and Head of Head and Neck Oncology at Sri Shankara Cancer Institute, following advanced training from premier institutions including AIIMS Raipur (MCh, Gold Medalist) and Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai.
An internationally recognized expert, Dr. Rao has made significant contributions to multinational collaborative research, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses.
He is also a noted pioneer in applying artificial intelligence to head and neck oncology, especially in clinical decision making and predictive modeling.
He holds leadership roles as Co-Chair of the AHNS Skull Base Section Sibling Society and International Committee, and serves on multiple academic and organizational committees, including as Chairman of the FHNO Abstracts Committee (2025). He is also an Editor for Nature Scientific Reports and an ASCO Global Oncology Editorial Fellow.
With over 100 peer-reviewed publications, Dr. Rao is actively involved in academic mentorship, including serving as an ASCO mentor, and is the founder of an international digital learning community of over 3,000 members.
