Stephen Kang, MD, MBA, FACS is a Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, Medical Director of the Head and Neck Service Line, and Division Director of Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute, one of the nation's few free-standing NCI-designated comprehensive cancer centers. He completed his medical school and residency training at the University of Michigan, followed by a fellowship in advanced head and neck surgical oncology and microvascular reconstruction at The James / Ohio State.
He is a high-volume head and neck microvascular reconstructive surgeon specializing in the surgical treatment of oral cavity and tongue cancer, oropharyngeal (HPV-related) cancer, laryngeal cancer, salivary gland tumors, and melanoma and skin cancers of the head and neck. His research focuses on surgical margins in oral cavity cancer and on advanced reconstructive techniques that restore form and function after cancer surgery, with more than 120 peer-reviewed publications. He holds national leadership roles in the American Head and Neck Society, and is currently Vice-Chair of the AHNS Reconstruction Section and also serves on the AHNS Advanced Training Council. He holds an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
