AHNS Virtual Education Series: Recon ‘Round the World: South America “Management of Complex Oral Cavity Reconstruction

Session Description:
With experts from the US and South America, we will present and discuss cases focused on complex reconstruction of the oral cavity. The goal of this session will be to explore reconstruction algorithms, patient selection, and functional outcomes. The expert panelists will share their clinical experiences on planning and executing reconstruction while navigating health disparities.

Session Objectives:
1. Compare epidemiologic characteristics of oral cavity malignancies in the US and South America.
2. Discuss patient selection and surgical approaches, as it relates to their functional outcomes for oral cavity cancer patients.
3. Discuss health care barriers exclusive to each region and how those issues are managed in a multidisciplinary fashion.
