Biography/Statement

Dr. Hales went to college at Texas A&M University where he studied Biology, Chemistry and Spanish.  He served a mission in Cochabamba Bolivia.  He attended medical school at The University of Texas Health Sciences Center – Houston, from which he graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha honors.  This was followed by a surgical internship, otolaryngology residency and subsequently fellowship training in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology and Endocrine Head and Neck Surgery at The University of Oklahoma.  He joined San Antonio Head and Neck Surgery Associates where he directs the Head and Neck Surgical Oncology program.  He remains very active in education, clinical research and is an Associate Professor with the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Combined Armed Forces Residency Training Program as a civilian.  He is fluent in Spanish. His hobbies include family time – wife Dana and 4 amazing children!  He practices the full complement of head and neck surgical oncology with special interest in thyroid and parathyroid surgery.  He is considered a high volume thyroid and parathyroid surgeon.

Biography/Statement

Dr. William S. Duke earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans and completed his Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery residency in the US Army. After his military career, Dr. Duke completed a fellowship in Advanced Head and Neck Endocrine Surgery at Georgia Regents University (GRU).  He was appointed to Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology and Endocrinology and served as the Associate Surgical Director of the GRU Thyroid and Parathyroid Center for 3 years.

He is a thyroid and parathyroid ultrasound instructor for the American College of Surgeons and a member of both the American Thyroid Association and the Endocrine Surgery Committee of the American Academy of Otolaryngology.  In addition to authoring over 40 scientific papers and book chapters, Dr. Duke has published two books on endocrine surgery and has been named to Best Doctors in America.  He is currently a thyroid and parathyroid surgeon in the Otolaryngology Department of MultiCare Health System in Tacoma, WA.

Biography/Statement

I am a Head and Neck Ablative and Reconstructive Surgeon practicing in Omaha, NE. Our group has one of the largest Head and Neck practices in the country specializing in all aspects of head and neck surgery. I specifically specialize in robotic surgery for HPV positive oropharyngeal cancers, microvascular reconstruction, salivary gland malignancies including sialendoscopy, melanoma/skin cancers and open/endoscopic skull base surgery. I completed my residency training at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX and then went on to complete my fellowship training in Nebraska. I have been in practice 5 years and have become heavily involved in both the American Head and Neck Society as well as the Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. I am very interested in survivorship after Head and Neck cancer treatment as well as outcomes research aimed at improving quality of life, efficiencies and decreasing cost of care.
