D. Gregory Farwell, MD, FACS, is Chair of Penn Otorhinolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. Dr. Farwell specializes in head and neck cancer surgery, thyroid/parathyroid surgery, advanced facial skin cancer surgery, and microvascular reconstruction.

As Chair of Penn Ear, Nose, and Throat, Dr. Farwell is committed to providing patients with compassionate, contemporary, evidence-based care, and significantly advancing the field of otorhinolaryngology to create the next gold standard in head and neck surgery.

Dr. Farwell has published well over 100 peer-reviewed papers and is a leader in the field of head and neck cancer surgery.  He has been invited to give over 300 presentations across the world on the best ways to treat and rehabilitate patients with cancer of the head and neck.

Dr. Farwell sees patients at the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine.

I am the Division Head of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at Cooper University Hospital, Director of the Head & Neck Cancer Program at the MD Anderson at Cooper Cancer Center, and an Associate Professor of Surgery at the Cooper Medical School of Rowan University.

My practice encompasses all aspects of head and neck benign and malignant tumor surgery, as well as reconstructive surgery for head and neck traumatic and oncologic defects.

Biography/Statement

Dr. Agrawal’s work has achieved international recognition in the field of head and neck surgical oncology and head and neck cancer genetics.  His group then followed up by publishing the genomic landscapes of the major head and neck cancers, including head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, esophageal adenocarcinoma, medullary thyroid cancer, adenoid cystic carcinoma, and mucoepidermoid carcinoma.  Dr. Agrawal then applied these findings to identify tumor DNA as a biomarkers that improve cancer diagnostics in the saliva and plasma of patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.  His research is focused on the application of cancer genetics to design diagnostic approaches to reduce morbidity and mortality from head and neck cancer.
