Biography/Statement

From London originally, Jonathan Bernstein qualified from the University of Bristol in 2002 and commenced clinical training in Bristol and Manchester. During his time in Manchester training in ENT, he completed a two-year period of full-time translational research in head and neck oncology based at the Christie cancer centre, and was awarded a doctorate for his thesis. He is well published, with ongoing research interests.

Following completion of training, he obtained a three-year clinical fellowship position at University Health Network and Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, one of the largest head and neck/thyroid programmes in North America. There, he learnt advanced skills in the management and surgical treatment of the full spectrum of thyroid, parathyroid, and head and neck tumours. Jonathan undertook about one year of the programme focusing on reconstructive microsurgery.

Jonathan works at Imperial College Healthcare (Charing Cross and St Mary’s Hospitals) as consultant specialising in head and neck ENT surgery.  Jonathan enjoys teaching and works on the question writing groups for the Royal College of Surgeons membership and fellowship examinations.

Mr Bernstein consults privately at:

  • Cromwell Hospital, Kensington
